Food & Shopping: most are priced ok

- The SFMOMA ‘Museum’ has a fine restaurant, pricey but good w/ outside seating.
- Chinatown is up Grant Street but the restaurants are several blocks up. Union Square is also up Geary Street with good shopping.
Art Supplies
On the East side of 1-80 up University Avenue in Berkeley are two art supply stores. There's The Art Store is just over the bridge and Utrecht Art Supply at 1909 University Ave in Berkeley. The best prices can be found at The San Francisco Art Institute Bookstore in the City at 600 Chestnut Street West off Columbus.

North Beach
- Columbus & Broadway. Chinatown, Little Italy, theaters & the sex clubs all meet in one place with City Lights Bookstore.
- Vesuvio Cafe at 255 Columbus Avenue shows local art and Jack Kerouac used to hang out there.
- House of Nanking at 919 Kearny Street on Kearny at Columbus has the Best Chinese food. This little joint is world class. No lie! Let them do the choosing, You just pay $15 each.
- My favorite Italian food is at Calzone’s Pizza Cucina at 430 Columbus Avenue. Teerameesooo. excellent.
- Lawrence Ferlinghetti California's poet laureate still owns City Lights Books at 261 Columbus Avenue.
Haight / Ashbury
- The Haight & Ashbury district is filled with cool clothing stores, junk shops & nightclubs. It aint what it was in the 60’s but it's still a very cool place to be. It's right down the street from Golden Gate Park which is also a great place to go.
- They used to close off many of the streets in the park from cars for skaters on Sundays. They still might do that.
- The Conservatory of Flowers at 100 John F Kennedy Drive in the park is within walking distance from Haight Street and is really worth seeing for $7.
